CELEBRATING OUR FAITH

1/2DW Liturgy
This Friday 13 March, 1/2DW will lead the Infants Liturgy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 9:30am.
1/2DW will focus on the feast day of St Patrick, patron saint of Ireland. When he was a young boy he was captured by pirates and taken to Northern Ireland. There he was sold as a slave and spent most of his time working as a shepherd. Patrick was very lonely and would often talk to God to get him through his days.
After six years he escaped and returned to England. Patrick wanted to serve God so he became a priest and then a bishop. He decided he would go back to Ireland to teach the people about God, while there he built many churches and schools. Patrick loved Ireland - both the land and the people. Saint Patrick today used the shamrock leaf to demonstrate our God, the Holy Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Parents and friends are invited to attend the Infants Liturgy on Friday, 13 March at 9:30am at Sacred Heart Church.
St Patrick's Day - 17 March
'Wear a Touch of Green'
Next Week Tuesday the 17 March is the feast of St Patrick. All students are invited to wear a 'Touch of Green' for the day. This includes items such as green socks, hairbands, ribbons and a hat. Full summer uniform must be worn.
Christian Living Days
- Year 7 and Year 10
The Year 7 students enjoyed their CLD Retreat Day which was held here at school yesterday and ran by two Lasallian Youth Ministers. The day focused on being part of a community: the different roles each person has to help form that community no matter the talents, gifts, personalities or qualities everyone has. Each one of us has a unique contribution to make to the many communities we are all apart of.
The Year 10 students have their CLD Retreat Day today with the day being called SOS: Service, Opportunity, Sacrifice. Thank you to Eliza and Phil who came across to Holy Trinity for the last two days to work with our Year 7 and 10 students in providing them with scenarios and skills to use in their daily lives.
Project Compassion -
Second Week of Lent
In Cambodia, 1 in 8 people live below the poverty line.
This week through Project Compassion we learn about Phany (pronounded Parn-ee). Struggling to earn a living as a farmer in Cambodia, Phany was forced to leave her daughter behind in the village to take up construction work in the city. Thankfully, through a Caritas funded program, Phany learnt new farming techniques which enabled her to get a better yield from her vegetable crops and to conserve water in her drought-stricken region. Phany’s community also took part in training in health, nutrition, hygiene and disaster preparedness, arming them with better strategies to cope with environmental changes.
Let’s Go Further, Together! Please support Project Compassion
“I am proud that I was a farmer who had no skills and now I can earn and improve my living, share my knowledge and also improve solidarity in the family and amongst our neighbours,” Phany says. “I live better than before, I’m not as tired. I can earn and live in the village, I don’t need to go to city to find job.”
Secondary Pancake Day
On Friday 6 March, the Secondary students enjoyed Pancakes made and served by the Vinnies Conference members. $98 was raised towards Project Compassion which is fantastic effort! Thank you to all the staff and students who prepared and purchased the pancakes, your contributions and actions of giving alms are much appreciated!
