Berthe Mouchette Poetry Competition 2022
Years 7 to 10 Poetry Competition Results
Due to the pandemic (even on a lesser scale than previous years), the 2022 academic year has still been challenging to find different ways to get students involved in cultural events, such as the language competitions.
Eventually, some students in Years 7-10 levels took the challenge and participated in ‘Le Concours Berthe Mouchette’, the French competition organised by the Alliance Française de Melbourne. The Year 7 and 8 students completed only the poetry recital, whereas the Year 9 and 10 students also completed a written test as part of the competition - which was another valuable way of getting more feedback from external assessors. All poetry recitals were recorded via video individually and each entry was submitted to the Alliance for the external examiners to assess.
This year 6,922 students across the state recited poems and 313 completed the Year 9 and 10 written exam. We received the poetry results last week and we congratulate all our participants for their effort. Celestine made it to the finals (which means she will be performing her poetry recital again via Zoom on Sunday 28 August) to compete against other finalists across schools within the state – Bravo, Celestine!
