Principal's Update

Welcome to Term 3. Watch the video below to hear an update from our Principal.

MND Fun Run

Last Saturday, King's College, Warrnambool Presbyterian Church and Warrnambool Surf Life Saving Club joined together to hold a Fun Run to raise money for MND Victoria. It was exciting to see over 180 people keen to take part in the event and that it was made up of a mix of babies in prams, kids, teenagers, parents, adults, grandparents and even some dogs! Over 2, 5 or 10kms, they ran and walked with a friendly and encouraging attitude shown by all. Once they crossed the finish line they could get a lollipop, play a game of beach volleyball with Mr. Zeunert, grab a sausage in bread, a biscuit from Miriam and mix with others from the three communities.

There were many positive outcomes from this event such as having the opportunity to show the Duncan family that we care for them, raising $7,000 for MND Victoria, and clearly representing our staff and school in the community as we served alongside others for a cause bigger than ourselves. Thank you so much to our staff who got up early on a cold Saturday morning to serve and participate in this event. Thank you to those who supported the cause by buying a beanie or socks or made a donation and we are thankful to God that we could be out in his creation and share time together with others again. I know there are still more people who want to donate so this link to our fundraiser will still be open until Sunday 24th July. Thank you so much for your support.

Landscape Upgrade

Over the school holidays, three trees were removed from the front of the College due to safety issues. One of the trees had begun to split creating the risk of falling limbs, while the other two trees' root systems had destroyed the bitumen footpath, lifting it up and creating tripping hazards. After removing the trees, we concreted a new footpath and planted eight new trees further away from the path. The old trees were mulched and used on our gardens around the school.

We have also started work on our Memorial Garden, planting three Japanese Maple trees and a Japanese Weeping Maple as our main feature tree. A lot more work to come here, but we have started establishing the trees.

Codes of Conduct

One of the great things about King's College is that we have a wonderfully supportive culture. We see it as a privilege to partner with parents and students in providing a Christian education. As a community, we want to continue to protect and enhance this culture. To help guide our community, we have codes of conduct that remind us of how to act with integrity and in a supportive way. Codes of conduct are used in many organisations to remind us of appropriate behaviour for interacting. While codes of conduct are not laws, the Bible reminds us that:

'God’s Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled. There is no law against behaving in any of these ways.'

Galatians 5:22-23
