XIV International Congress of the Chilean Society for Quality in Healthcare, SOCCAS 2020
With an unprecedented call of more than 800 attendees from Chile and Latin America, the XIV International Congress of the Chilean Society for Quality in Healthcare (SOCCAS) was held. An event sponsored by ISQua and the Superintendency of Health: the regulatory government entity for the Chilean health system.
Attendees participated through a virtual platform that allowed them to attend 5 international conferences, 8 panels of discussion, 6 training workshops (with 153 students in total), 2 coffees with experts and a sample of quality and safety good practices.
In a new and dynamic online space, new trends in quality for healthcare and patient safety were discussed. The most prominent topics were:
- Person-Centred Care
- Security and clinical risk management
- Healthcare Accreditation
- …and the projections Tele-Health will have
The five great lessons of this Congress were:
- To discover the new unavoidable challenges that healthcare quality management faces today in times of pandemic: the interrelation of quality areas with hospital infections, risk prevention and human resources areas.
- The importance of patient and professional involvement to co-create true person-centered care.
- Clinical leadership as a decisive and driving factor in navigating the pandemic scenario.
- The gradual challenges that the Chilean hospital accreditation system will face.
- To celebrate courage, pride and excitement of delivering the 2020 National Quality Award to all the health teams in Chile that have been on the front lines facing COVID19.
A new world, a new reality, new challenges to improve healthcare in Chile. And SOCCAS was there to expand knowledge, spread good practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of health services.
