Yesterday St Mary’s held a school based Brain Olympia competition as the Diocesan event was cancelled due to covid restrictions.
The day saw 7 teams compete comprising students from Years 4, 5, and 6. The day began with 5 rounds of 10 questions on topics which included English, Science, HSIE, Famous People and Places and Current News, 5 Math problems, Public Speaking and a Drama skit.
All had a great day and worked well in teams.
The public speaking topic “Our World” showed some very creative thoughts and well constructed and delivered speeches. Congratulations to the Pink team on winning the public speaking and to Rachael Ward for delivering it so well.
The teams were each given a location to dramatise eg. At the dentist, at the show, at the supermarket, at the music festival, at the grand final, at the hairdresser and at the restaurant. Congratulations to the green team for winning the drama with ‘At The Supermarket.’
Overall the winning team was Team Orange, with Team Green second and Team Purple third. Congratulations to all children involved, everyone contributed during the day worked well and were a pleasure to work with.
