Hi, I'm Tom Dawson. I have been teaching English and Humanities for five years and am now teaching at St. Albans this year. I am originally from Adelaide and moved to Melbourne with my wife and cat. I enjoy reading, writing and record collecting but haven't had much time for these things lately as I am a proud new dad to a newborn baby girl.
Lillian Lee
Hi, my name is Lillian Lee and I am originally from Singapore. I came to Melbourne for my tertiary education and graduated from The University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and a PhD in Chemical Engineering. After working for several years in research, I have decided to come back to my family’s profession of teaching. I have a wide range of interests and am always interested in learning something new. I am an avid cook and baker, love connecting with nature by going on walks, hikes and camping, am always trying to be a better gardener, and have been trying my hand at sewing recently. I am excited to be part of the St Albans community and I look forward to getting to know all of you.
Lesley Walker
My name is Les Walker, and I will be working part time on Middle Years Literacy and Tutoring this year. My teaching history has included Western English Language School, Islamic Schools in Broadmeadows and TAFE and AMES. My interests are mostly watery - I love snorkelling, stand up paddle boarding and being in waves. I also enjoy gardening, reading and spending time with friends.
I used to read mostly fiction, but I mainly enjoy non-fiction now, usually about history or biology which were two subjects I wanted to do in Year 11, but couldn't because they were time-tabled at the same time, I chose history then; but it has been wonderful to enjoy the many non-fiction science books written that are written so clearly for the general reader. I look forward to getting to know everyone at SASC, which seems a wonderful place to be. Thanks to everyone for their consideration and welcome in these early days.
Jennifer Tarr
I’m Jenny Tarr. I’ll be working as part of the Literacy Tutoring team in 2021. I’ve taught a variety of subjects, including English, EAL, Mathematics and Latin, at Northcote High School, University High School and the Victorian School of Languages (Distance Education) and have also marked VCE English and GAT examinations for many years. St Albans Secondary College will be my fourth school in my 42 years of teaching.
The Covid-19 lockdown confirmed my love of reading, crosswords and handcrafts and added an interest in gardening. It was very quiet though, and I look forward to interacting with you all.
