PFA Update

Kirsten Brooks, PFA President

Last PFA General for 2021

It’s hard to mark the passage of time in our current situation. Incredibly, this week we held our last PFA General Meeting for the year.

It was lovely to hear what the team have been up to in their roles and to begin thinking with excitement about a new team for 2022. It was also a warm welcome to Bianca Lapins, who has joined the team as Community Relations Officer, and I look forward to you meeting her when possible.

The meeting marked my last PFA meeting after 25 years as a school parent who has thoroughly enjoyed the communities my family have shared our journey with. Being involved in any capacity with schools has helped me to raise strong children, and given me perspective and great enjoyment.  For the conversations, friendship and team morale, I am very thankful.

The AGM will be held at 7.00pm on 23 November, and I will enjoy thanking our community and wishing you an enviable school journey. All are welcome.

Term 4 CSR meeting

Our Term 4 CSR meeting is Wednesday 20 October 7.30pm on Zoom, and we will be looking at cohort events to finish the year.

Please get in contact with your CSR if you have ideas to share, and please consider signing up for 2022 as a CSR. It will be a wonderful year of community reconnection.

Big shout out to our Kilvington Cares coordinator, cooks and bakers who provide extraordinary support to our community. Thank you.

SHUS update

The next SHUS is planned for Saturday 4 December. If it is allowed to take place, it will adhere to strict COVID safety measures. An appointment system will be advertised on KCEE and CSRs will send a reminder.

It is most unlikely consignments will be accepted this year and the SHUS team are looking to open in late January 2022 with an extra SHUS date.  Please keep an eye on KCEE for updates.

SHUS encourages you to sign up as a volunteer.  Several members will leave with their Year 12s, and to open safely extra volunteers are required. Thank you for your consideration. Please email ck.ten@htomail.com for further information.

Secondhand book list - buy/sell

The 2021 Kilvington Grammar Secondhand Book List is open for you to buy and sell your School books. You will find the booklist for 2022 on KCEE for you to check what is required.

Please note, this is a service set up for your convenience, and the PFA encourages COVID-safe exchanges and is not responsible for transactions.

Judy Allen Award

Nominations are open for the prestigious Judy Allen Award. This annual award is presented to a member of the KGS community who has made an outstanding contribution to the School over a five-plus year period.  Nominations close 18 October.

Please find the nomination criteria and form here.

Crafting dates

Our Craft Team has moved sessions online and are now preparing to send sewing packs home, starting with tote bags. To join in or find more information, please email Eleri Stephens at elerim@gmail.com.

Sessions will continue online to help beginners, and all are welcome to jump on with their own projects, or just to chat.  Earring/jewellery-making will be offered as an activity shortly. Extended family members and friends are welcome.

Parent community 2022 sign-ups

The 2022 PFA and CSR sign-up is open, and I encourage you to consider signing up and making the most of the opportunities we have next year to come together.

This sign-up is an indication of your interest. Our volunteer structure is flexible enough to meet your needs and changing situations, and your time is very much appreciated. Make a role your own.
