Year 7 News
What a Term it's been!
A very positive and smooth transition into Year 7.
Students have carried themselves in a very respectable manner and have built strong relationships with peers and staff. Collectively, our Home Groups and their teachers have been working hard to compete against each other for the ‘Most Creative Classroom’, ‘Best Attendance’, ‘Best Classroom Banner’ and more, enabling students to take pride in their learning spaces. We’ve had many lunchtime clubs on this term, including Gaming Club, Art Club, Study Club and Writing and Illustrating Club. We welcome a range of new clubs in Term 2, along with House Competitions.
Students have been successful in all areas of the College. HOL students have been working hard to develop their skills in technology, café and trade.
First round of ILTs have been submitted, celebrating our students’ learning throughout Term 1. Students have also begun their Big Write in English which enables our students to express themselves from a written perspective.
Athletics Carnival was a success, with students competing in a range of events throughout the day. Teachers also took part in the day’s competition by racing in a student vs. staff relay. Overall, a great day filled with excitement.
Interschool Sport this term enabled a selection of students to represent the College in Volleyball, Tennis and Cricket. Students trained very hard throughout the term, giving up their lunchtimes to prepare for competition against other Colleges within our zone. Students played extremely well and displayed superfluous sportsmanship. A special congratulations to the Year 7 boys’ Tennis team for progressing to the next round.
On Monday students had their first round of immunisations which was a daunting experience but nevertheless, got the job done, good work Year 7s!
Thank you to those who attended Term 1’s Parent Teacher Conferences. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate students’ successes and share strategies to benefit their achievements.
Students and staff are collectively looking forward to camp at Lake Dewer in Term 2. Students will be participating in a range of challenging and fun activities, including canoeing, flying fox, hiking and much more! If you would like your child to attend, it’s not too late, please contact the front office.
Have a lovely and safe break, see you in Term 2!
