Intermediate Boys Badminton

25/5/2018, the day the Intermediate Boys Badminton A Team achieved victory at the Inter School Monash District Competition held at Monash University. A day that I will never forget.

On the day, we had wins against Wheelers Hill Secondary College 6-0, South Oakleigh College 6-0 and Wellington Secondary College 5-1. The last match was very intense, we were up against John Monash Science School. As they won their respective matches as well, it was basically winner takes it all.

After four singles games, we were down 1-3, knowing that only winning the last two doubles games will give us hope of leapfrogging them. At that stage, they had won three singles, but they also only led us by 3 points. We knew that winning both doubles games by at least two points will give us the victory we were so desperate for.

Almost everyone around watched our games, lots of cheers could be heard whenever a point was awarded to either side. We were under quite a lot of pressure, but thankfully we won eventually. We won both doubles games, one by 5 points and the decider by 3. It was a dramatic end which definitely entertained those who watched the match.

Although I was not really aware how the B team did on the day, I still would like to praise their convincing performances on the day regardless of their results. I also want to congratulate the Intermediate Girls Badminton Team as they also achieved victory on the day. Finally, I want to congratulate my team members, the A team boys for displaying such a terrific performance.

The following students were on the teams:

A Team- Livjot Singh, Hong Yang Quah, James Guo, Aaryan Bedi, E-Gene Chew, Sean Kim

B Team- Richard Pham, Thomas Lu, Jordan Slamet, Alex Lee, Sageevan Sutharsan, Keanu Ramadan

We would not have claimed victory on the day without the outstanding assistance of our coach Ms. Fu and student coach Nititon Yusomrong. We will now divert our attention to the Eastern Metropolitan Region Competition on August 3.
