A Time for Everything
This is a time of year when we are busily ensuring that all the work that the Year 12s have done throughout the year is ready to be sent off for moderation. Our staff are starting to think about 2020 and some of the changes that it will bring. As a Secondary School we will be rolling out a new learning support system in the new year. CANVAS will bring education for the students to the fore in the high school, allowing staff, students and parents to track their learning and progress. CANVAS will eventually replace Edmodo.
During our Week 3 Chapel we had the honour of announcing our 2020 School Captains. I would like to congratulate April Sierat, Emily Colebatch, Kingsley Marston and Hamish Goodman on their selection. I look forward to working with these students next year and seeing how they enrich the school. I would also like to take the time to congratulate our outgoing Captains. Phoebe Lewis, Amelia Rooney, Malcolm Worthing and Noah Davids. They have done an outstanding job this year leading Chapel and developing a student led worship band. They have left their mark and the upcoming student leadership team in a good place.
Please keep our Year 12s in your prayers as they complete their exams and prepare to enter a new and exciting phase in their lives.
As Ecclesiastes Ch 3 so beautifully states,
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
This wonderful group of students are finishing one season and transitioning to a new one. For some they know where they are going. For others it is a time of uncertainty. My prayer is that they will listen to the prompting of the Holy Spirit and follow the path he has laid for them.

SACSA Volleyball
On 25 October, the Year 8/9 boys and girls competed in the SACSA Volleyball Carnival. The teams competed hard and managed a number of wins. More importantly though, the students represented themselves and our School well. They displayed excellent teamwork, cooperation and respect. Great job to all the athletes involved and a big thank you for the hard work of the coaches, Mr Price and Mr Leigh.
Looking for a Tutor?
We are often asked by parents for contact details of anyone we know that provides Secondary School tutoring. Just this week we received information from Bonnie Edgecomb, a newly arrived resident to Strathalbyn with her husband Matthew who is the new pastor at the local Lutheran Church.
Bonnie is a teacher/tutor offering high school tutoring to students in Strathalbyn and surrounding areas, particularly in the area of Senior English, Research Project and HASS, along with other Middle School subjects.
If you are interested in this service, please feel free to make contact with her via the details here.
