Help Seeking
I would just like to encourage parents this week to keep going!
Whilst there are still several weeks left of the school year for students other than Year 12’s, the weeks are going quickly and students can sometimes feel some unrest as they finish off assignments, start thinking about their classes for next year and even say goodbye to friends or teachers.
Many students can experience anxiety around the changes that happen at this time of the year, and parents may need to help their children navigate the end of the year, and negotiate any changes
I would like to remind parents that they are not alone. They can talk to their children’s teachers about any concerns they have. They can chat by phone or make an appointment with one of the members of the Well-being Team, or they can speak to members of the pastoral care teams across the School.
Parenting isn’t an easy job, so I’d like to encourage parents that seeking help when they may need it is important. The Well-being Team often refers students to outside agencies that offer support. We also have some excellent resources for parents in our library (and are ordering more all the time) and we can also send you links to services or clips from parenting experts.
Parents, please remember that it takes a village to raise your child – and that teachers in our School and the Well-being Team are part of that village and are here to support you in the important task that you do.
Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
God bless you in your roles.
God Bless,
