Science around the School:

Preps get up close and Personal

Following up from our introductory session about Stick Insects, Prep MD took a closer look at these interesting creatures. Our budding Scientists were eager to utilise hand-held and light microscopes to explore a stick insect mounted on a glass slide, a stick insect exoskeleton mounted on a glass slide and the gum leaves from their enclosure. Students continued their learning about how they move (by observing them), their life cycle (by observing their eggs) and how to care for these creatures.

Another big thank you to Artemisia Kousis, a very thoughtful parent who donated these young Stick Insects to our school.

Items needed for Scientific Research

The Year 6 Science Elective Students are conducting an investigation on some of the needs of Newborn babies. To help our learning take shape we are asking to loan some 'newborn baby dolls' for the rest of the term.

If you can help, please bring the dolls to the Science Laboratory on or before Wednesday 13th of June.
