Student Wellbeing

Blue Light Disco This Thursday Evening – 13th of September

This Thursday the 13th of September, we are holding a Blue Light Disco in our gym for our students between 6-8pm in conjunction with Ballarat Police and Des Hudson.

*** Please note that this event is for Buninyong Primary School students (both campuses) only.

Tickets are available at the door for $5 and students will need to be signed in and out by a parent/guardian. There are no pass outs for this event. Staff will supervise students whilst at the event.

During the evening there will be lots of music, dance prizes, snacks and drinks available (with a menu to come out soon for those interested).

We aim to create a great social experience for the kids to connect with their peers and establish new friendships in a fun environment. All money raised for this event will go towards resourcing our Lunch Time Clubs and making our school climate more positive.

We look forward to seeing as many of you there as we can!

Preps in 2019 with Additional Needs

Families who have new prep students coming to school in 2019 and have been identified as having additional needs (e.g. Speech therapy, paediatric investigation, Autism, significant medical condition, etc), are encouraged to make a time to talk to Scott to discuss.

Scott will be able to help those families in understanding the Department of Education’s support framework and provide information on how our school supports the transition into Prep and also any additional resourcing that we may have access to. To arrange a meeting with Scott, please call the office to book in a time.

PLP Meeting in Week 8

Last week saw another healthy PLP meeting with our school seeking feedback on a range of areas including:

  • Concert
  • Year 6 to 7 Transition
  • Attendance
  • NAPLAN
  • Out of School Hours Care

Please talk to your class PLP if you would like a copy of the notes that were collected during the meeting.

Also, we require support for the following activities. If you are able to assist, please call those listed. Thank you!

  1. BBQ this Wednesday at the Celebration of Learning              We’re after a few people to help out with the BBQ from 4:30 onwards. If you know of someone who can help on the night, please ask them to contact either Scott or Tracey Coats.
  2. Painting the entrance of the Outside of School Hours Care – Thursday 4th of October (10am)                                                     Again, we’re after a handful of people to help out paint in the gym and get the area ready for signage. If you know of a handy helper, please get them to call Scott or Bernie.

Sporting Colours Day – In Tradition… Last Day of the Term.

In typical Buninyong Primary tradition, the last day of term 3 will be a Footy/Colour's Day. This is a really nice day with activities in the classroom, dressing up and the notorious... Staff Vs students (Grade 6 Students Only) football match.

Although the day tends to lean towards AFL football, children are encouraged to dress up in their AFL, Soccer, Rugby (any code) uniforms or their favourite colours. If your child doesn’t have these, don’t worry, they can wear casual clothes.

The day doesn’t require a gold coin donation.

Just dress up and come along for some fun!
