Principal's Report

ADVERTISING LEADERSHIP ROLES

As mentioned recently, we’ve had some staff acting in leadership roles. To make the roles permanent a recruitment process must be completed. We started with the Assistant Principal Wellbeing role a month ago and concluded yesterday.  We congratulate Scott McGlynn on being appointed to the role.  Scott has worked diligently in the role for the past 2 years and done an excellent job.  He is very deserving of this appointment.

We now move on to filling substantively the 3 Learning Specialist positions, those being:

  • Learning Specialist Literacy
  • Learning Specialist Numeracy
  • Learning Specialist ICT

The successful applicants will work closely with school leadership to drive teaching and learning in their designated areas.

Selection processes for these positions will conclude in the next couple of weeks.

WAKAKIRRI

Good luck to our students and Mrs Morgan who are now in the thick of a final week of preparations for their Wakakirri performance.  I’m looking forward to travelling to Bendigo with the team next Monday and know they will have a ball and do us proud.

Uniform

You may recall that we forecast an intention of reviewing and updating our school uniform.  This work will be completed by a sub-committee of School Council.  Their task will be to canvass parent views and then come up with a proposal for School Council based on those views.  Then it is up to School Council to make final decisions.

At last week’s PLP Meeting we called for nominations from parents to sit on this committee along side School Council reps and thank Carley Young, Carly Blunden and Ange Stock for volunteering.

The Uniform sub-committee will be getting together soon to develop a strategy for seeking parent views, so keep an eye out for your opportunity to contribute.

TRAFFIC SAFETY

From time to time we have parents or members of the community make contact to express concern with road safety matters around the school during peak times, those being drop off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon.

These problems seem to escalate in the middle of winter, when parents and children don’t want to be parking too far away.

Please put safety first.  We’d encourage everyone to be patient and remember that your efforts to save a few minutes or save stepping out into the rain could be putting your child or others at risk.

PARENT SURVEYS

Principals have been asked to inform parents that the survey closing date has been extended to August 18.    So if you received an invitation via email and hadn’t found the time to complete the survey, the opportunity now exists for another week.  As always, we appreciate any feedback and thank those who take the time to complete this survey.
