Grade 3 Camp

Grade 3 camp is fast approaching (7th & 8th August). A reminder to please ensure that all camp notes and payments are returned ASAP. A camp booklet has been sent home explaining what your child needs to bring. Please arrive at the Buninyong campus by 8.30am on the morning of departure.

Bunnings BBQ

A huge thanks to all of the wonderful volunteers that assisted with the Scotsburn Campus Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser. It was a busy, but profitable day. We raised just over $2100, but also have about 250 sausages left over and 4 boxes of soft drink. We’ll cook them up and sell them at our Celebration of Learning BBQ up at Scotsburn later in the term. As planned, the money raised will all be directed towards the exercise track at Scotsburn.

New Chook Shed

As you know, our chook shed has well and truly seen better days. We would like to replace it with a new and improved version over the coming weeks. If you have some old materials laying around at home (tin, timber, windows, laying boxes, etc) that you know longer require, we would greatly appreciate them. We are also searching for some helpers to build the new shed. We already have 3 ready to go, so If you have some building skills and tools or would just like to help, please contact Shaun ASAP. We’ll confirm a date in next weeks newsletter (most likely a Friday) for the construction of the new shed.

Parent Opinion Survey

It is that time of year again when Parent Opinion Surveys are sent home to complete. We kindly ask that you take some time to fill this survey in, as your feedback is always greatly appreciated.

Student Opinion Survey

We received the results for the Student Opinion Surveys that were conducted in Term 2. The results are overwhelmingly positive. We will get an opportunity to look through these results at our next parent catch up.

Yoga Classes

A big thanks to Christine (Lara’s Mum), for taking the time out to teach the kids Yoga last Friday afternoon. They did a wonderful job and enjoyed the new experience. We look forward to Christine joining us again throughout the term.

Back Creek Farm Visit

The students have been eagerly awaiting the first of our visits from the Back Creek Farm Year 9 students. Last Friday they arrived with shovels and rakes and did an amazing job. The Gr P-3’s worked tirelessly with them throughout the afternoon, moving mulch, cleaning up the vegetable garden, making our space for the new sand pit and much more.

The Gr P-3’s will be making their way to the Back Creek Farm this Friday as part of the connection. They can look forward to feeding animals, fencing, vegetable garden works and so on.

Kinder Visit

On Thursday, Buninyong and Scotsburn Prep students went down to the Buninyong Kindergarten as part of our transition program. The visit involved our students reading the kinder children a letter they had written about the things they enjoy at school, a picture presentation on the wonderful experiences both campuses offer and a much anticipated play with a buddie. It was wonderful to see our students share the excitement of starting school with the kinder children and take on the role of mentor. I know our Prep students will do a wonderful job of caring and supporting the kindergarten children as they begin to make their transition to school.

Debating

A big congratulations to Mason, Quinn and Claire who competed in the debating competition last week. They prepared and spoke extremely well. Although they didn’t win their debate, everyone is so proud of their commitment and dedication. Great job girls. Special thanks also to Miss John who worked so hard with the girls in the lead up.

Exercise Track

A big thanks to Ben (William’s Dad) who has been busy levelling out the space for our new exercise track. It is looking great, and will be fantastic once it is all completed. Thanks Ben!
