Junior School News

This week we have welcomed the Year 8 students back to school after approximately 22 weeks of remote learning. There were a lot of excited students who have enjoyed being reunited with their friends and physically being back in the classroom.

Year 7 PL

“A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are”

Did you know that friendship bracelets were originally solely made by tying knots with embroidery floss or yarn to create intricate patterns?

Last week in Year 7 Personal Learning the focus was on friendship. The students started the lesson unpacking the history of friendship bracelets and then had to choose which style they would like to make. Students had the opportunity to work together to follow instructional videos, help each other, make decisions and get to know each other better following remote learning. By the end of the lesson students had made at least one colourful friendship bracelet.

Remote Learning Reflection - Year 7

Over the next few newsletters we will see a reflection from the Year 7 classes about their remote learning experiences.

7C Remote Learning Snapshot

What did you enjoy most about remote learning and why?

  • I enjoyed remote learning, because I feel as if I concentrated a lot better at home, because there were less distractions. Hetta
  • I really enjoyed sleeping in and just doing my work at my own pace and just enjoying my time spent with my family. Stella

What did you miss about school?

  • I missed the fact that you couldn’t see your friends everyday and ask them for some help or talk to the teachers about what you need help with as often. Sarah
  • I really missed not seeing friends and teachers. FaceTiming friends was just so different and not the same as seeing them and interacting with them in person. Jenny
  • I really missed seeing my friends and attending the 2020 Aerobics competitions that my team had been training for. Stella

What did you do to keep active during isolation?

  • I went on regular walks every week with my mum or sometimes friends. It was nice to get some fresh air. Makenzie
  • I walked my dogs and played with them so much that I think they got to the point that they wanted me to stop. Stella

Any shout-outs to teachers?

  • Shout out to Mr Hall who was been organising every Math class and checking in with us individually on each student's understanding!
