Well-being

Well-being at GGLPS

It is essential that all students in the school feel safe and know that they belong to a supportive and caring environment. Well-being in a broad sense to us incorporates behaviour management, programs to support students socially and emotionally and the development of strategies to act responsibly and aid learning. You are encouraged to discuss these ideas and strategies with your children to reinforce what is happening at school.

Sometimes words hurt...

Being online can be a lot of fun. It can be a great place to learn about the world too. We all know the dangers that exist though and even with every measure in place, there can still be issues that pop up from time to time that can be upsetting. Unfortunately, many children are hurt online by something not nice. I encourage you to continue to monitor what your children are doing online and talk with them about what they are seeing and doing. When the negatives do pop up a simple little process to put in place is the STOP strategy.

S Step away

T Tell a trusted adult

O Ok sites first

P Pause and think online.

Sometimes words hurt but it is how we respond and deal with what happens that is very important. It’s not always easy, but if we work hard and build a positive relationship with our children over being online, hopefully when things do happen they can be dealt with.

This following video goes through the strategy in a short and simple way.
