Principal's Message

Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families,

NAIDOC WEEK VIRTUAL INCURSION

With NAIDOC Week approaching (November 8-15) we arranged for a school wide incursion to kick off the important learning that occurs during NAIDOC Week each year.

Samantha from Connecting Two Worlds was our fantastic facilitator and speaker for the virtual 30 minute incursion for all of the classes.

The sessions included:

  *   The importance of an Acknowledgement of Country

  *   History of the Wurundjeri people (who traditionally lived in the Narre Warren area)

  *   Flags (what the colours represent)

  *   The Tribes in the surrounding areas

  *   Show and Tell (artefacts and what they were used for)

  *   Traditional Arts and Symbols

  *   The Language of the Kulin Nation (Woiwurrung)

  *   Dreamtime Stories and Dance

The feedback from students and staff have been tremendous!

During NAIDOC Week, all classes will also engage in some important learning activities on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and cultures.

Thank you to Mrs Rivett for organising such a great learning experience for our school community as part of our Indigenous Education curriculum!

CURRICULUM DAY – NO SCHOOL - FRIDAY 20TH NOVEMBER

In four weeks’ time, we will be holding our final Curriculum Day for the year. As a staff we will be further developing our Discovery (Inquiry) Curriculum in preparation for 2021.

Our outside school hours program, will be running a whole day program for families who still require the service. Please go their website to ensure you book in advance.

Take care and stay safe.

Kind regards,

Darren Wallace
