Area of Study 3 - Applying the design process

This area of study focuses on the application of specific stages of the design process to organise thinking about approaches to solving design problems and presenting ideas.

In response to a brief, students engaged in research and analysis to support their interpretation of the brief and as stimulus for generating ideas.

Drawing on their creativity, students used a range of manual and digital methods, media and materials to generate ideas for further development. They reflected on these options and further developed their preferred option.

They considered trademark, copyright and legal obligations of designers when using the work of others in all stages of the design process.

Using the brief as a point of reference, students refined and presented their visual communication. Throughout the design process, students annotated their drawings as part of their ongoing evaluation to assist with creating visual communications.

In addition to the logo, they applied their designs to each presentation, unifying them as part of the same brand identity.

Individual designs were applied to a range of different presentation formats using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator programs and finally presented on mount board.

Year 7 to 11 Student Showcase

Last week, the Visual and Creative Arts and Product Design and Technology departments held a showcase of all Year 7 to 11 Art, Studio Arts, Media, Visual Communication, Textiles and Product Design and Technology  students' artworks.

There was a full display in all Art rooms along with a fabulous buzz from many students and teachers who visited the display to admire the creative talents of Kilbreda students.

It wasn’t quite the Art and Design Exhibition that we are used to, but it was really lovely to see girls supporting this event as we are very proud of the works on show.
