Year Five News

Leadership is always on the agenda in Year Five and this year, as preparation for the voting process for school leadership in 2021, every student is involved in producing a short video about their understanding of the topic.

Starting with a storyboard to define the shot order of their videos, the students wrote scripts around these three key requirements: What makes a good leader? What types of leaders do we need at Orchard Grove? What changes would you like to make if you were successful?

The students have been engaged in describing their strengths, identifying which leadership attributes they believe are the most important and which they bring to the role of leadership candidate.

It’s been a reminder of how resilient this year’s students are. They’ve been learning from home for almost half of the school year and yet they are back, working together to film and critique each other’s work, optimistic about the new opportunities 2021 may bring.

We’re all looking forward to viewing the candidates' videos and seeing the ideas they’ve chosen to work with.

The image included shows some examples of the ideas students have decided to work with and the way they’ve tackled the challenge creatively.

All the best from the Year Five team: Emma Thompson, Natalie Derrick, Natalie Phillips and Matt Anthony
