Junior School News - Term 2 Week 1, 2022

Welcome back to Term 2! I sincerely hope that you were able to spend some quality time with family and friends over the Easter holiday period and that you and your sons are feeling refreshed for all that the next nine weeks will bring.

As I attended a local Anzac Day memorial service on Monday morning, I felt a deep sense of gratitude. Gratitude to those service men and women both past and present, thankfulness for family and friends and appreciation for being a part of our inclusive College community at St Patrick’s.

During the break I took the time to read the book The Resilience Project by Hugh van Cuylenburg. It is an inspiring story aimed at enhancing wellbeing for children and adults alike. With his theory based on a series of life experiences and backed by credible research, Hugh encourages the deliberate practice of gratitude, empathy, and mindfulness as a means to improve one’s personal sense of wellbeing. He recommends keeping a daily journal of things for which you are grateful, intentionally making time to give and help others in need and regularly performing simple meditation or mindfulness exercises. Through these small acts, one’s sense of individual wellbeing elevates over the long term. I thoroughly recommend you taking the time to read this text and put into practice the suggestions contained within it!

As we look ahead to the new term that commenced earlier today, filled with meaningful learning experiences and exciting opportunities for students, I would like to remind all parents/carers that the ‘live’ College calendar can be viewed directly through our website by clicking here

As always, if you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me via email (glenn.stephenson@spc.nsw.edu.au) or phone (8705 9247) and I will endeavour to assist you in any way that I can.
