Study Slam is open to any student, across all year levels and takes place in the Senior Study Centre. It runs from 3:30pm to 4:30pm Monday to Friday.

VATE Writing Competition

VATE is excited to launch their 2022 writing competition A Story in Miniature. Students in Years 7 to 12 and their teachers are invited to submit a story between 300 and 500 words in length inspired by this writing competition theme.**

VATE encourages students and teachers to find inspiration from the miniature stories that make up their daily life - the small interactions and delightful tidbits that make up their day - and transform them, with brevity, into a piece of polished prose. What could a story in miniature be?

A moment in time. A short interaction between friends. A vignette depicting the future. A portrait of daily life at home. A slice of an imagined world. A snapshot into another life. A glimpse of the past.**

There are four categories available in this competition. Schools may submit up to five entries in each of the categories. If there are more than five entries for a category, a panel of St Brigid's teachers will vote and select which stories will be entered.

The four categories are:

Years 7 and 8 students

Years 9 and 10 students

Years 11 and 12 students

Teachers

Each entry must be emailed to Mrs Dooling (mdooling@stbc.vic.edu.au) by 4pm on Friday 10th June 2022.

The winners of each category will receive a $150 book voucher from VATE's partner bookseller, The Little Bookroom/Neighbourhood Books, and their stories will be published in Idiom. The runners up will receive a book package from our competition supporters.

For further information, go to https://www.vate.org.au/story-miniature-2022-writing-competition or contact Mrs Dooling.

St Brigid's College Open Day 2022

Project Compassion

As you may already be aware of, we are currently in the season of Lent and each year the Catholic Church organisation (known as Project Compassion) raises funds for its missionary work in underprivileged countries of the world.

Each week, Bethany Arnup, our Student Faith and Mission Coordinator, will bring the Project Compassion donation box into Homeroom classes and ask students to please make a small donation. This is a very worthwhile cause and an opportunity for you to contribute to help those in need in other countries - especially remember the people in the Ukraine and Afghanistan.

If families would like to make a donation, please visit the front office and
