SHOWCASING OUR SCHOOL

It has been a pleasure to showcase our students, teachers, programs, facilities and brand new buildings and sporting facilities to 140 families who joined me on tours of the school this term.  We have conducted twenty-one school tours this term with another eight scheduled for the first three  weeks of term 2.  On Wednesday 30th March we opened our school to over 500 visitors who ventured in to EXPLORE Greensborough College’s “New Horizons.”

The positive and warm atmosphere of our school was noticed and commented on immediately by families as they were welcomed into classrooms by teachers. Students readily greeted visitors and spoke with them about their learning and achievements.  The pride our students showed in their school as they moved through the buildings and past touring groups was outstanding and displays of courtesy and friendliness were natural and authentic. Student leaders conducted school tours and showed courage and aspiration in performing this important role. As College Principal I am proud of our students and staff and of our collective achievements this term.

COLLEGE LEADERS’ INDUCTION CEREMONY

This week we inducted our students as College Leaders for 2022.  Kate Thwaites, Federal Member for Jaga Jaga presented the badges and spoke to our students about good leaders. She said that good leaders listen, they bring people on board because they can influence and persuade and they care about making a difference.  These qualities are evident in our student leaders. Our School Captains, Logan Evans and Allie Newton, and School Vice-Captains, Ella Teagle and Jordan Hutchings-McKinnon, were presented with the College blazer by our School Council President, Margaret McNicol. Congratulations to all of our leaders and we look forward to you leading our students, representing our College and making a difference in 2022.

EASTER AND TERM BREAK – ANZAC DAY

Term 1 ends on Friday 8th April at 2.20pm and term 2 begins on Tuesday 26th April.

Our student leaders will attend the ANZAC Day ceremony at Watsonia RSL with Mr Glenn Jenner and Mr Anthony Ellul and we will have assemblies, the first day of term commemorating ANZAC Day at school.

During the term break I encourage students and families to continue the surveillance testing by using the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) kits that have been sent home. During the term students have received 5 sets of RATs as we continue to keep the school and broader community safe and well.

I wish all students, staff and families all the very best for the term holidays and the festive season.  Have a restful break and safe travels to those who will be holidaying.
