Civics and Citizenship
This Term, students will be exploring how Australia became a Federation and the key events that have influenced today's democracy. Students will examine significant events and people, political and economic developments, social structures, and settlement patterns. They will also investigate the values that underpin Australia’s democracy and how the rights of the people have changed and developed over time.
They will learn about the responsibilities of the different levels of government and their influence at a Fedreral, State and Local level. Students will examine the different people in Australia’s legal system and the role of parliaments in creating law.
Our children will learn about the way of life for those people who migrated to Australia and their contributions to Australia’s economic and social development.
We will inquire about what it means to be an Australian citizen and how this has changed throughout history.
