Year 5 Camp

Year 5 Camp will be an immersive experience at Sovereign Hill in week seven, Wednesday 8th to Friday 10th June. This year we are lucky enough to gain a place in the Costume school. The students will engage in several educational sessions, as well as enjoy some time to explore Sovereign Hill, Pan for Gold and be captivated by the AURA light and sound show.

Our goal for this camp will be to foster personal growth with activities that will assist in fostering resilience, perseverance, teamwork, collaboration and self-development all whilst exploring the educational connections to our Inquiry unit of Civics and Citizenship.

Following is a link to further support your child in preparing for camp, here you will find a wide range of Social Stories that are designed to support the students in becoming more familiar and comfortable with Sovereign Hill before their visit.

Costumed School Program

Sovereign Hill School offers a unique two day, fully immersive, costumed school experience tailored to Year 5 and 6 students. As part of this program, students are in the charge of ‘Ma’am’ or ‘Sir’ who is strict, all knowing and the embodiment of 1850’s Victorian authority.

Students will be exposed to some fascinating insights into the distinct social norms and hierarchy of the times. Each costumed school may receive a unique visitor who could interrupt the strict and ordered classroom environment by providing a theatrical and interactive performance involving and engaging all participants.

Students are given the rare opportunity to go behind the scenes in many of the Sovereign Hill businesses and experience first-hand, the tough and turbulent times of life on the diggings.
