Positive Climate for Learning

Grade 3/4 Learning Community

Students in the 3/4 Learning Community have had a fantastic start to the year! Each homegroup has been working towards developing their understanding of themselves as readers during our ‘Getting the Learning Flowing’.

During Reading, we have been exploring different text types and understanding that we all have different reading interests. We have been sorting our libraries into categories so we can easily find the texts we feel are a ‘good fit’ for us. It was a bit messy while we were sorting the books into categories but it is much easier for us to find the books we like now!

Marttie (grade 4) – "I like to read the Bad Guys. I like to read these books because there is a lot of speech."

Cush (grade 4) – "I like reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid because they are really funny."

Ewan (grade 4) – "I like reading Tiny Timmy because it is about soccer and I love soccer."

Mikayla (grade 4) – "I like to read chapter books because they are longer."

Maddie (grade 3) – "I love Harry Potter books because I like to learn Harry Potter names."

We have welcomed new students and new staff into our community this year. We are looking forward to all the learning we will do together.
