Our Feature Middle School Level - Year 3/4

3/4A

Our Inquiry this Term is called Connections.

We have been exploring how we are the same and different. The students created Family Crests and Bioglypths to describe themselves. Here are some examples of their work.

3/4C

As part of Wellbeing and getting to know you and our inquiry unit about 'Connections', we completed many activities to get to know one another. We learnt a lot about what we like, what we are good at and about our families. Two of our favourite activities and ways to get to know each other more was through creating ‘Figure Me Out’ posters and ‘All About Me’ tshirts. We enjoyed learning so much about our new classmates!

3/4GS

As part of our Inquiry unit “The Land Down Under”, we have been learning about Australia. We have explored the natural features of Australia, and identified states, territories and the capital cities. We have created several maps and explored Google Earth and viewed clips about our wonderful country.  As part of our “Location and Mapping” learning in Maths, we have learned about different types of maps, directional language and the Compass Rose. On our maps, we included a compass-rose to show these direction points. The maps created and pictured in this newsletter show some famous natural landmarks and features, such as Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef. We also labelled the states and territories, as well as the oceans/seas surrounding Australia.

3/4HP

A special time of the year for many of our students and families is Lunar New Year. This year is the year of the Ox. In China, ox and buffalo are symbolic of diligence. People born in this year are thought to be persistent, ambitious, and straightforward.

To celebrate Lunar New year students created Ox puppets and wrote about their zodiac animals and the traits of the animal assigned to that year.

Lenten Wall - learning

Ash Wednesday marked the beginning of the season of Lent. This is an important Church season where we can reflect on how we can live our lives as models of Christ. The students in Year 3/4 have been discussing what they can do for others during this particularly important Church season. They have decided that -

They are going to help at home

Be kinder to my siblings

Respect those around me

Look after my friends at school

Share my belongings with others

Be honest with my family and friends

Please come and see our Lenten Journey where we are following in Jesus’ footsteps.
