Twilight Family Picnic

After a year like 2020, it was extra special to have so many families come together at our Twilight Family Picnic last Friday evening.

We were blessed with great weather and the picnic was well attended. It was a wonderful opportunity to gather as a community, meet new people and catch up with other school families who we hadn't seen in a while. The Gelato Bike and jumping castle were a big hit, especially for the children. We all enjoyed the lovely BBQ rolls and sausage sandwiches while some families also chose to take a tour of the new TAS/VA Centre with Mr Bray and Mr McLennan.

It was great to be able to use our new Food Technology room to prepare the food and the awning adjoining this room provided lovely shade for our food tables. The luscious green grass of the back oval provided ample space for us all to spread out and for the older students to play some ball games.

A huge thank you to all the staff and parents/carers who helped make it such a wonderful evening; it would not have happened without you!

CSSA Secondary Zone Swimming Success

We had a great day at the CSSA South Coast Zone Secondary Swimming Carnival at Nowra Aquatic Park last Tuesday. Well done to all of the students who competed at the carnival and represented NCS so well. Their combined efforts saw us finish the carnival in 4th place overall. Thank you also to our wonderful parents & carers who came to support our students at this event.Several of our students have qualified for the CSSA Secondary State Swimming Carnival, which will be held on Tuesday 30 March 2021 at SOPAC in Homebush. Congratulations and we wish you all the best!

Primary CSSA Zone Swimming

On Monday 22 February, the Primary Zone Swimming Carnival took place at Nowra Aquatic Park.  There were 30, of the 34 students who had qualified for the carnival who could attend on the day.

Sunshine and blue skies provided excellent race conditions for an action-packed day in the pool. Mrs Holly Parker, NCS's Team Manager, was able to find replacements for a number of absent students from our faithful team members.

There were excellent performances in the pool, including Thomas H.S. who finished first in his 50m Freestyle event, Jai D and Luka C who both managed second places in their age groups for the 50m Breaststroke. Other notable performances were evident from Noah S and Jenevieve D who managed third place finishes in their events. NCS's Junior Boys 4x50m Freestyle Relay Team finished in third position, meaning the four boys: Noah S, Mitchell P, Boyd M and William P also showed strong performances.

The eight students mentioned above have now qualified for the Primary State Swimming Carnival in Blacktown, which will be held on 8 March. However, due to some pretty severe COVID restrictions, only two of the eight can make it on the day.

We wish them God's speed and safety as they travel. Special mentions go to Shakaya N, India M, as well as others, who swam in multiple races on the day, one person even backed-up to swim in two relays! Also, 'shout outs' to Thomas and Noah, who finished in third place in their quests to be age champions achieving 18 and 30 points respectively.

Well done to all thirty team members for swimming 'gutsy' races and gaining points for our school team on the day. We finished in overall fourth place, with a total of 174 points. Thanks to all the parents/carers and friends who were able to make it on the day to offer support.

Thank you Mrs Giddings

We'd like to thank our Casual Teacher, Mrs Giddings, for filling in for Mrs Landstra while she recovered from a broken collarbone.  We really appreciated you taking the class.

Year 6 have a taste of Secondary

Last Thursday, Year 6 students had the opportunity to experience life in high school at the Year 7 'Taste 'n' See' Experience Day. Our current Year 6 students, along with 12 students from other schools, experienced Year 7 classes for part of the day. The students really enjoyed Percussion Language with Mr West, learning a new game called Quinos with Mrs Bignell and Art with Mrs Stewart. The Experience Day culminated in a yummy sausage sizzle with students and their parents.

Student Art Work

We have quite a display of student art work in the Administration building.

Last year Erik K and Josie G's artwork were hung in Mr Bray's office and this year he has Michael M and Ella F's artwork.
