Careers Lunchbox Sessions

On Thursday, 25 February, we held the first of our Careers Lunchbox Sessions for 2021. Representatives from the University of Queensland, Bond University and Griffith University spoke to the Year 11 and 12 students about Pathways to Medicine. The boys received valuable information about University entry requirements, UCAT and viable pathways.

Our next Lunchbox Session will be Careers in the Australian Defence Force on Thursday, 25 March.

If anyone has suggestions on topics that may be of interest to your son, please contact us.

Year 11 and 12 Work Experience – Term 1

Expressions of interest for work experience are now OPEN!

Year 11 and 12 students will be completing their work experience placement during weeks 9 and 10. Placements are for three days, and students are required to come to the Careers Information Centre to complete an expression of interest form. All forms must be received by Wednesday, 3 March, to allow us enough time to find a suitable placement.

How can I Help?

We are often approached by parents, Old Boys, and our Marist community members who are interested in “giving back” to the College.

Our Careers Department is always looking for host employers in various industries to be part of our work experience program. Our program runs for three days, and the College covers all insurances.

We understand that there are industries where it is just not possible to take students for work experience. Our students also benefit greatly from just having a conversation with an industry professional.

Lastly, we are looking for dynamic industry professionals within our Marist community to participate in our Inaugural Careers Link Network evening being held in July. This event will be an informal evening and will allow our Year 12 students to practice the valuable art of networking whilst meeting with industry experts.

If you are interested in getting involved with any of the above initiatives or would like further information, we would love to hear from you. Email: careers@marash.qld.edu.au
