Student Representative Council

 

The Student Representative Council (SRC) represents the views and needs of students effectively and with a sense of fun. The members are chosen by and act on behalf of their fellow students. The SRC also reports to the School Council. This year Peter Joint from the School Council has agreed to attend meetings whenever possible.

 

Our School Captains and Vice Captains are automatically on the SRC.

The 2021 Student Representative Council members have been chosen and the first meeting was on the 9th of March.

Welcome

Welcome to the first SRC meeting for 2021. Welcome Peter Joint, School Council               Representative. Welcome to Karen Jordan who coordinates the meetings and takes         minutes. Congratulations to everyone for being elected to the SRC for 2021, well done.       Badges were handed out to new members.

 

Song Choices 

Thank you Jason for updating the music this year, please bring song choice ideas to the next meeting.

 

Prior to meetings that will be schedule monthly, please hold class meetings and bring ideas for discussion · 

 

Upper Primary Suggestions: 

Students would like out of uniform days. Colin spoke about success criteria reward winners choosing that as an option in certain sections. 

There will also be termly opportunities to raise money to be discussed at future meetings.

 

Sec 7/8 Section Suggestions: 

Secondary 7/8 students would like to thank Reena for arranging a new sensory box for the section. 

-Students would like to have canteen twice per week. Colin said let’s monitor the weekly option and discuss further, Canteen is operating on Thursday’s via ordering on Compass. 

-Students would like a rock-climbing wall. Colin said that this activity requires lots of safety measures and is accessed on Camps and at Outdoor Education. 

-Students would like nets on the basketball court. Colin will get Colin Daisley to arrange. 

-Students would like more access to quiet spaces during lunchtime. Colin explained about the lunch clubs that are available. 

-Students would like new playgrounds and classrooms. Colin said that there will be new playgrounds and classrooms in the new building phase soon.

-Student would like more outside picnic tables. Colin thought this was a wonderful idea and will have this idea added to renovation plans 

-Students want new GaGa balls, bean bags, twisty slides and sandpit for Secondary students. Colin said that there may be new beanbags but twisty slides are for playgrounds outside of school and there is no room for another sandpit

-Students would like more animals to play with. Colin explained that we have 2 Support dogs here at Concord school- Poppy and George who works in the OT department in Upper Primary on Friday’s. 

 

Sec 9/10 Suggestions:

Students would like Staff to wear a uniform. Colin said that staff have access to a staff polo or jacket if they would like to order and wear them

Students would like to wear hats. Colin said that we have 3 hat choices at Concord school- plain black, black with school logo and black with the Koorie emblem

Students would like a pool and an ice cream machine. Colin explained that there is not enough ground space at Concord school for a pool and you can order snack.
