What's Happening in the TAS Faculty
It has been a positive and quick start to Term 1 2021 with lots of exciting programs and projects starting to take place. We are excited for the students of KHS to be able to get back into their school work and back into the practical rooms getting their hands dirty.
Year 7 Technology Mandatory - Engineered Systems.
Year 7 have been learning how force, motion, energy and properties of materials affect the behaviour and performance of flying machines. Students created paper o-wing airplanes with Mr Jones to understand flight dynamics before designing and producing their own electric plane.
Year 7 Technology Mandatory – Timber
After their safety lesson in Timber, Year 7 were ready to begin their Utility Box Project. They have begun the process of measuring and cutting their timber for their projects with Mr Marshall with lots of smiles.
Year 11 and 12 Textiles and Design
Year 11 and 12 have been getting stuck into their theory work this week with Miss Cramer, ready to plan and begin their projects for this semester. Year 12 are almost ready to start their Major Projects for their HSC. They are doing well at working hard now to be able to spend more time on their practical works later.
Year 10 Child studies
Year 10 Child studies has been learning about birth and all the options that are available to a woman and her family. Some of which include; Public hospitals, private hospitals, birthing centres and home birthing. The students are also learning about complications and interventions in birth.
Year 8 Technology Mandatory – Food
Year 8 has started a brand new unit with Miss Ryan at Kempsey High called 'Fantastic Food', the students are learning about nutritious, healthy and tasty foods which are full of energy and good for the body. This was the students first practical lesson, which they made smoothie bowls. They were all extremely enthusiastic and loved the smoothie bowls which they would happily make at home.
