Optus Digital Thumbprint Workshops
On Friday 19th February, Jake from Optus facilitated a cybersecurity workshop for each year group (7-10) throughout the day.
Year 7 participated in a Cybersecurity workshop, where they learned how to keep themselves safe whilst online.
Year 8 participated in a Cyberbullying workshop, where they learned about cyberbullying, how to identify when they or someone else is being bullied and how to deal with it in a legal and ethical manner.
Year 9 participated in a Digital Discernment workshop, where they learned how to determine whether the things they were seeing online were legitimate or if they were fabricated to make better decisions online.
Year 10 participated in a Digital Identity workshop, where they learned how they can be portrayed on the internet and why they need to be careful of the things they put on their social media as this creates an identity for them that may not be an accurate representation of their true personality. This can be detrimental to being successful with a job.
The students got a lot out of their workshops and many had questions to ask Jake after each workshop. The students were very appreciative of the workshops and many thanked Jake for him time, which was pleasing to see. Be safe and aware online.
