PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Mrs Jillian Rainger

Catholic Schools Week

This week we are celebrating Catholic Schools Week.  I am missing our annual picnic lunch but when I look outside today I am possibly glad we are not having it today! I am proud to be the principal of a Catholic School. At Holy Trinity, we have wonderful students, dedicated staff, and supportive families. We try hard, make mistakes and hopefully learn how to do things better. We look to Jesus for strength and guidance in our topsy-turvey world. Let's hope that by next year's Catholic Schools Week we can join together again to celebrate.

Marriage and Families Week

Thank you to our families for supporting our school over these last few months. I would like to acknowledge how vital our families are at Holy Trinity and how we can work together to make our children confident learners who live life to the full. This week I hope you get the chance to be together as a family and be grateful for one another.  I am always reminded by Pope Francis that healthy family life requires frequent use of three phrases: “May I? Thank you, and I'm sorry” and “never, never, never end the day without making peace.”

Compass Parent Portal

We are moving towards cancelling our Skoolbag app subscription and moving towards using COMPASS as our parent portal. Our goal is to have every family being able to access the COMPASS portal by the end of the year. Our Semester 2 reports will be published only on the Parent Portal. In the coming weeks, we will be sending emails to families not currently on the portal with their log in details. Please make the effort to access the site as well as downloading the app for your mobile devices.

Online Behaviours

A number of playground/social difficulties come from online messaging and gaming. Please be aware of what is happening on your child's online world and discuss how to manage these interactions. Earlier this year we had the organisation Real Talk come and speak to students and parents about keeping safe online. We are looking at another guest speaker to reinforce social media behaviour for this second semester.

NCCD/School Census

Next Friday, August 7 is our school census day. This is a legal requirement. Part of the Census is the NCCD process. Attached is a fact sheet regarding the NCCD. Our upcoming family conferences will be an opportunity for families to receive and discuss their child's current personal plan.
