The Art of Movement

With a daub of paint, a twist of wire, a swipe of a roller or a flick of a pencil our students had a fantastic Specialist morning creating art works around the Art Principle of movement.

It was amazing to see the smiles on the faces, the excellence of the work and the team work as they worked on the art work that showed movement in so many creative ways and all the staff were so please with what was created.  These will be shared in our digital art show, which will be released on the 16th November, where you will be able to see what talented artists the students of St Francis de Sales are.  What a great way to begin Term 4.

Here are a couple of comments from some of the students:

I learnt new skills when I was doing my wire sculpture and I enjoyed crafting the wire into what I wanted to make.  Samuel Q

I learnt how to do a new type of art work that I had never done before.  Samuel E.

I learnt that you can make some many things out of wire and be really creative with it. Hans

I like how the paint made dots on the jellyfish and the colourful colours I painted with.  Paige

The paint of the wave was super relaxing to do and I liked how we started with the dark colours before painting the light colours.  Serah

I like how we used put the beads on the pipe cleaners then we cut out shapes and added the pipe cleaners to it.  I thought it was fun to make.  Raybel

Senior Maths Talk

This week seniors in Learning Space 1 have been learning about Financial Mathematics (Money).

They have been exploring how their skills in addition, subtraction, division and multiplication can be adapted to the financial world.

Through this exploring, the students have been reflecting and adapting their problem solving skills.

They have been learning these skills using hands on materials and maths games such as snap, dominoes and Money addition ladders.

PE NEWS

We are so excited to be back at school!!!

PE and sport is so much more fun with our friends and teachers. We get to work as teams and learn how to cooperate with each other when playing team games.

The Seniors will continue their Winter Interschool Sports Rotations started in Term 2.

They will do sports Friday mornings. Grade 5/6 from 9.00 – 10.00 and Grade 3/4 from 10.00 – 11.00.

Once these rotations have been completed we will run some House Competitions where students play various sports in their House Teams against other Houses.

Once again we will have the separate time slots for Grade 5/6 and 3/4.

We still had lots of students and families keeping busy during lockdown and so have some photos to share.
