The City of Whittlesea’s Baseline for Young People are running free one off creative art workshops for young people between the ages of 12-25.  These workshops are great for young people wanting to connect with other young people and create their own art work.

Young Woman's Leadership Program

The City of Whittlesea’s Baseline for Young People are looking for young women who are interested in joining the next Young Women’s Leadership Program. The online program is for young women aged between 15 and 20 years of age.  We will look at leadership, building confidence, gender equality, healthy relationships, consent and the law, women in leadership and women’s health.  The program will run on Monday’s from 4-6pm through MS Teams and will go for 8 weeks excluding school holidays. The program begins on Monday 7th September.

WEBINAR : Building family resilience during coronavirus (COVID-19).

 On Tuesday 25 August, the Department of Education and Training is presenting a free webinar for parents and carers by renowned child psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg, on building family resilience during coronavirus (COVID-19).

Parents and carers play a vital role in helping children feel safe through uncertain times.

Dr Carr-Gregg’s webinar is aptly named Managing the Coronacoaster – Tips for building resilient families in the coronavirus era.

In this webinar, Dr Carr-Gregg provides tools and strategies for parents and carers to help manage the lockdown and remote learning. Topics include:

  • your supportive role
  • setting the emotional tone
  • focusing on what you can control
  • how to deal with disappointment
  • further resources and where to get help.

Dr Carr-Gregg’s presentation will run for 45 minutes. This will be followed by a 15-minute question-and-answer session in which parents and carers can ask Dr Carr-Gregg questions.

Free Online Soccer Program – starting Wednesday 19th August via Zoom 

WCC is launching a new online soccer program for young people (12 -25s) in Whittlesea with training tips and advice from professional soccer player, Melissa Barbieri! Specific sessions will be run for different age groups and genders.

Free reusable Mask Making Workshop and Hangout – 7:00 pm Wednesday 26th August via Zoom

Free event for young people (10-25s). Come hang out with WCC’s youth advisory group (The LOT) and make some reusable face masks. No sewing machine required. Event link and list of materials will be emailed after registration.
