A Message from David....

Welcome Back!!

I absolutely LOVED Monday! I loved getting to school early and seeing all the staff eagerly adding the final touches to their classrooms to make them perfect for the kids. I loved wandering the school grounds before all the students arrived and admiring Trish’s extraordinary efforts to make our grounds beautiful for our kids. I loved standing at the front gates and hearing tales of joy, excitement, sadness and relief from the parents. And I LOVED seeing the students, all smiles and bounce, as they quickly said good morning before eagerly bursting their way into the school grounds to see their friends. I really loved Monday!

Whilst it feels like a lifetime ago since we have had classrooms filled with students and the playground buzzing with excitement, the students have settled back into the routines of on-site schooling like it was only yesterday. I spent a large part of Monday morning visiting classes and out in the yard and I was so impressed by how well everyone had readjusted. It is a credit to all the families and staff for all of the effort, care and support that has been put in to enable the students to have such a positive transition and a credit to the students for being such resilient, flexible and positive people.

Parent Surveys

The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey that is sent out to parents across the school each year. It is a really important data set for us as we plan for further improvements to our school. Information about this survey will be sent via Compass shortly and I encourage as many people as possible to take the time to respond.

Road Safety

A reminder to all families to come and say hello to Fiona as you use the school crossing to cross the road safely. As discussed in a previous newsletter, we remind students and families to not cross the road at the northern end of the school as it is on a potentially dangerous bend on Victoria St.

Staffing News

It is with great excitement (and a tinge of sadness) that I announce that Teagan Lane and Andrea Hardwick have been appointed as Learning Specialists at Riverbend Primary School. Both Andrea and Teagan are exceptional educators and are truly deserving of the promotion to Learning Specialist. The Altona Green community thanks them for the efforts during their time here and they will be missed by many members of our community.

Grounds Works

It was great to finally see children playing outside this week as there have been a number of improvements that we have done to our outdoor spaces. We have had a number of areas concreted to remove tripping hazards and create safer pathways. As previously communicated, we have brightened up the yard with a range of outdoor games and activities for the kids to engage with whilst playing.

You are amazing, Trish!
You are amazing, Trish!

Trish has been busy with new indigenous plantings and a bush tucker garden (amongst a million other jobs she does!). And our newly converted bike shed actually had some bikes in it this week!
