Toddler

We would like to welcome our parents to " Storypark".  We hope our families are enjoying seeing our daily community posts about our daily activities and our learning experiences.

Pizza Making:

Over the past weeks,  our children have been showing their interest in cooking and making pizza in our home corner kitchen using our cut out pizza bases, felt vegetables and our cardboard pizza oven. We have extended on their interest in baking our very own pizza.  Educator Nuria was showing the children how to make a pizza dough. Everyone was gathered around the table watching her make a pizza dough. Nuria went through the recipe, showing the children the ingredients we are using, and explaining our measurements of each ingredient. Our toddlers were pointing and asking lot's of questions during this experience.

Our children got to enjoy the homemade pizza for afternoon tea

This experience allowed our children to practice their counting skills and social skills.

Practicing  Scissor skills:

Our children were also keen to practice their cutting skills using scissors, co-coordinating both the leading and helping hand to cut through paper.  This experience benefits children to strengthen their hand muscles, bilateral coordination skills (two-handed coordination), visual motor skills (eye-hand coordination) and fine motor skills.

Our mini animal world:

Over the past week we have introduced our children to the mini animal world, which included small and large animals.  The children helped setup the animal habitat, by bringing bark, grass, branches and water to our mini world. Our children have started to recognize the names of each insect and have been practicing their counting skills by counting the insect's legs.

Superhero day:

Last week we celebrated superhero day, our children came dressed up in their favourite superhero costume. We had the hulk, superman, wonder women, bat girls and Captain America. Our children were using their imaginative, creative play and dramatic play to act out their characters while playing with their friends. Dramatic play benefits children to develop their social and confidence skills.

Thank you from the Toddler room
