Kinder Room

Garden produce
With our little garden, the Kinder saw that our Spring onion and coriander was ready to be harvested. So for our afternoon tea, we decided to make some savoury pancakes made out of (flour, milk, salt and the herbs). Our little friends were very enthusiastic into cutting the herbs from the garden, watching them and learning the process to making pancakes. They explained that " the dough looks like goop", " I cook pancakes at my home but with sugar". We discussed the ingredients and how they changed when being mixed together.
The children also had the opportunity in pouring the dough and cooking their own pancakes with the help of our teachers.
Super Hero day
What a fun day it was! Our little friends were very proud to show their friends their special costumes, play lots of super hero games which then turned into making their own super hero with hand painting. On that day, all the game were superhero related and even the bikes had superpowers! The children spent the day outside creating "strong houses" for the superhero so they can stop the bad guys. We read our lovely books brought from our kinder's home which talked about the different superheroes in the cartoon world.
Outdoor play can get messy
Our kinders have been enjoying watching the clouds and guessing whether it was going to rain or not. We have also been witnessing that the weather goes colder as we dive right into winter. We would like to remind our families that as per our indoor/outdoor program, we invite you to add some extra layers in their bags, thicker jackets and gumboots when possible to keep them warm and still engaged in their outdoor learning. The children have been building their connection to the land and nature through the growth of vegetables and herbs, watching the trees and learning about them but also having all their senses engaged while learning as well.
Who has the most colourful mask?
We are all aware of the new situations that can sometimes be quite overwhelming for children as they are still learning and understanding the world they live in. Our role in the kinder room and across the centre is to make sure that children feel safe and secure in their environment. As a result of this, we engaged into conversations with children who demonstrated quite a good understanding of the masks and proposed to make their own one. "I will make a superhero one", "I will make a blue one just like my mum" or " masks keep the germs away". Mayani role modelled the process to the children who enjoyed making them too and decorating them.
Thanks,
Sandrine, Mayani and Simmer
