Student Well-being
Spotlight: Wellbeing during the pandemic
Focus: Maintaining good mental health during Covid-19
It is such an uncertain and unsettling time for us all. Especially during lock-down! Here are four ways that can help us all to maintain good mental health during this crazy time.
Maintain a healthy lifestyle
- Set up a daily routine. Plan activities that are fun (such as reading, watching movies, hobbies) and that give you a sense of achievement (such as cleaning, completing work tasks, learning a new skill).
- Stay active—create an exercise routine that can be completed at home, to maintain physical fitness and reduce stress.
- Eat well—plan and eat a variety of nutritious meals.
- Stay connected with friends and family via phone, chat, email, or video conferencing.
Stay informed
Getting information from trusted sources can help you determine reasonable precautions to take to maintain your health. Here is an example of a trusted site- COVID-19: The facts.
Stay Positive
Remember;
- This is unpleasant, but it will pass.
- What you say to yourself is important. Listen to the things you are saying to yourself and change negative comments to be more helpful and realistic.

Kid-Friendly Resources
Covid-19 can be a really tricky thing to discuss with children. Unfortunately, it's all over the news and radio so serious discussions about it are hard to avoid! I have compiled a list of helpful picture story books for you to read with your children.
When the World Went Inside
This author hopes that the book will reassure families and help them talk comfortably about the virus and focus on the importance of the wellbeing of their children’s mental and physical health.
