Term 3

As we begin Term 3, we find ourselves back to the Stage 3 restrictions which mean churches are once again closed for weekly Mass celebrations. I will continue to provide the weekly Mass activities from Cathfamily. The website provides the children with the Sunday Gospel story and follow up activities that can be explored as a family.

Sunday Mass Activities for Children

Jesus has been teaching the crowds using parables. He likes to use stories about familiar activities so that people can understand more easily.

Sunday's Gospel was the Parable of the Mustard Seed.

Explore the reading by clicking on the following tabs located on the main screen:

  • The Word: video of the reading
  • Look Closer: brief exploration of the reading in child friendly language
  • Ponder: some questions to ponder or wonder about related to the Gospel and our lives
  • Respond: an activity is provided to further give children the opportunity to reflect on the Gospel of the week
  • Pray: a short prayer service for families to participate in.

The Parable of the Mustard Seed shows how the kingdom is like the mustard seed in that it began small, and as it grows, it becomes larger until the second coming.

Dear Jesus,

We know you are present

in the little things of life.

We sense that the seeds of faith

which you continue to plant within us

will grow, even without our awareness.

When we are discouraged,

remind us again of this story,

this image of growth

that we might take the longer view,

we might see the bigger picture,

and we might be strengthened

by the good news that you are not yet

 through with us.

In Jesus’ name.

Amen.

May God bless us all and keep us safe.
