Harmony Day: Tuesday 21st March

Last week students at Chilwell celebrated Harmony Day.

We believe that everyone belongs.

Did you know that nearly half of Australians were born overseas or have a parent that was?

Did you know that we identify with over 300 ancestries?

Did you know that Australia is home to the oldest living culture in the world?

In Performing Arts, Grade Four students listened to the sounds, lyrics and beat of songs belonging to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. They were ‘Sunset Dreaming’ by Ngai Bubu Ya and songs by Yothu Yindi, They drew images and shapes in direct response to the music.

In Visual Arts, students then worked together to take some of those images and join them together as larger finished works in the spirit of Harmony and Belonging.
