NAPLAN 2023

Over the past 2 weeks, our Level 3 and Level 5 students took part in the National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). These nation-wide tests assess students' literacy and numeracy skills and provide parents important insights into their child's progress at school.

For the first time, the tests were completed in March, having traditionally been held in May. By moving to March, the data will be available earlier to inform teaching and learning programs. It also means parents will receive results earlier in the year.

NAPLAN tests the skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life, such as reading, writing, spelling, grammar and numeracy. It is important to remember that NAPLAN is not about passing or failing, but about assessing learning progress.

I would like to thank all of our students who took part in the tests for their efforts and at all times trying their best. I would also like to thank all teachers involved for the caring way you have supported your students over the past two weeks with NAPLAN.

One of the very special surprises that came from NAPLAN this year was the beautiful drawings that some students completed when they finished their test early and were respectfully waiting for others to finish. I wanted to share some of these drawings with you. So much talent!

Foundation Peter Pirate Penguin Party

Happy Birthday Peter Penguin! On Friday 17th March our Foundation students had a fabulous day dressing up as pirates and penguins, parading for the grade 6's, playing party games and searching for treasure. They also enjoyed a delicious party lunch (thank you parents for the wonderful spread). So much fun learning about the letter 'P'.

Student of the Week

Student of the Week is an award given by classroom teachers to students to recognise their achievements in a number of areas including academic, values and wellbeing. The awards are given out at either the junior or senior assembly.

Students that will be receiving an award at an upcoming assembly will be listed in the prior school newsletter.

Congratulations to all of the recipients of the Student of the Week Award so far this year. I look forward to the many awards to come throughout 2023
