This Week's Updates
Dear Families,
It's hard to believe there are only 9 days remaining of school for the term.
Here are a few updates:
- Our first School Advisory Council meeting for the year is on Tuesday, tomorrow evening 6.15 - 8pm in the MPR.
- Our wonderful Year Five Champions have everything ready for Friday Night's Cinema Night. Let's all pray for some good weather.
- Lachlan from year 3 represented St James in the Eastern Metropolitan Region Swimming Championships on Friday. He competed in the 50m swimming final. A huge congratulations to Lachlan for all of his efforts in all of his events this season! We can't wait to see how far he goes next year.
- We have our third Open Day Tour morning tomorrow with tours at 9am and 10am
- NAPLAN finished up today with make up tests for Yr 3 & 5 students who were absent on one of the testing days
- Mass Friday 9am - Preps and Yr 6 Buddies
- Prayer Service Friday 2.25pm - Yr 1 - celebrating Palm Sunday
Farmyard News
After a lot of reflection, discussion and thinking we have decided that we will move our goats Millie and Boots to a farm.
While this has been a very hard decision to make we believe it is the right thing to do.
We purchased Millie and Boots as miniature goats so that their size and space required to live in were the most appropriate for our students and the goats themselves. It is clear that they are not miniature goats. Consequently, they require more space to live in and, while they are not aggressive, they are big and can knock students over.
So, for the safety of our students and for the welfare of the goats we will be moving them onto a nearby farm where they will have more room to live in and have some very caring farmers to look after them.
We will probably make the move over the holidays.
Farm helpers needed
We would like five more families to volunteer to help out with the farm duties leading up to and over the school holidays. If you are available to help out, please contact Vic directly on victoire.gibson@sjvermont.catholic.edu.au
Covid Update
We have had several new cases of Covid reported to us over the past few days in various levels. Please see directions from MACS below regarding Covid positive cases.
- Parents/carers should inform the school by phone or written notification if a student tests positive to COVID-19 (via a PCR or rapid antigen test).
- Students who report a positive result are recommended to isolate for a minimum of 5 days and not attend school until their symptoms have resolved.
A few other updates
- St James Ride2School day - This Friday (31st March) we invite all students and families to celebrate National Ride2School day. It would be great to fill the bike shed with bikes and scooters of students keeping active and healthy by riding to school. You might like to walk, ride or scoot to school - if you live further away, consider driving near St James (perhaps a local café for a morning coffee) and walking the rest of the way! We are very fortunate to have many bike and pedestrian paths nearby - let's make use of them this Friday and get active on our way to school!
