Recycle Regatta - Brighton Rotary Club

The Recycle Regatta is a new event on the Melbourne scene. It’s a bit like the Birdman Rally, only in boats made from recyclable cardboard and plastic bottles. It is going to be boatloads of fun, very entertaining to watch, and the funds raised will go to helping improve the mental health of secondary students.

St Mary's families are invited to get involved as either as a participant and building a boat, donating to our BIG GOAL or coming along on the day to join in the fun as a spectator.

The Recycle Regatta is on Sunday 19 March, 12.30pm – 4.30pm in the harbour in front of the Royal Brighton Yacht Club.

To enter a boat and your team, please visit recycleregatta.org.au.

We are encouraging teams and individuals to get sponsored by friends, family and colleagues.

We have a variety of prizes up for grabs from the fastest boat still floating at the end of the race, to the most spectacular sinking ( we are calling this The Titanic Award), the best decorated boat, the best dressed crew and many more. It is going to be so much fun.

Behind the Recycle Regatta is a very important cause - improving the lives of our young people through training them to talk with their peers about mental health, so it becomes a normal part of conversation and a comfortable and supportive conversation. The training program, the TEEN Mental Health First Aid program, is based on research that tells us that young people prefer to speak with their peers about mental health. To do that, we need to prepare them to be ready to have these conversations. Our BIG GOAL is to ensure that every student in the bayside area experiences the TEEN Mental Health First Aid program once during their secondary years at school, and the funds raised through sponsorship of teams and individuals will help us to do that.
