Naming Conventions

When setting up Learning Tasks

All Learning Tasks are to adhere to the following strict naming conventions and are to include a specific one-two sentence descriptor.

 

These naming conventions have been developed to accommodate F-10, VCAL and VCE subjects and their assessments. If your subject does not fit into these naming conventions, please contact the Teaching & Learning Team.

F-6 Naming Conventions

  • Assessment Task: English - Reading Comprehension - Fact and Opinion.
    • Students demonstrate their comprehension of elements of fact and opinion within a current text that investigates the 2019-2020 Australian Bushfire Season.

Instrumental Music

  • Assessment Task: Performance practice
    • Students prepare works of music for presentation. These works are in a variety of styles with the goal of extending their abilities and understanding of performance practice. Pieces can be performed unaccompanied or with live/pre-recorded accompaniments.

 

7-10 Naming Conventions

FORMATIVE TASKS (NON-REPORTABLE)

 

Progress Task: Test - Integers

Students complete a topic pre-test on integers which covers addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of positive and negative integers, common multiples and factors.

 

Progress Task: Chapter Questions – Directed Numbers

Students complete a range of challenging problem-solving questions

based on the game of golf involving the use of directed numbers

 

Progress Task: My English Unit 10 A – How conjunctions work

Students complete units from the Oxford My English text to support their learning in English.

SUMMATIVE TASKS (REPORTABLE)

Assessment Task: Text Response Essay – ‘Pharaoh’

Students complete a text response essay in response to a statement about the novel Pharaoh.

  • Assessment Task: Test - Number. Students complete a topic test on manipulating whole numbers using the four operations, including estimating and rounding.

 

  • Assessment Task: Semester 1 Exam

Students complete an end of semester exam that tests them on their skills and knowledge learnt over the course of terms 1 and 2.

VCE and VCE-VM Specific Guidelines

  • the Macleod College VCE/VCE-VM Handbook and VCE Outcomes Practice Policy for details regarding the school-based management of VCE performance, attendance, and assessment.
  • Students who are taking a VCE subject can receive an At Risk of “N” and a Final “N” Notification. Subject teachers must complete this form on the student’s Compass chronicle, post it home and copy it to the Student Manager. Details of this are in the Macleod College VCE/VCE-VM Handbook.

  • Assessment Task: SAC - Analytical Essay on ‘Tracks’ Students produce a 700-800-word analytical interpretation of ‘Tracks
  • Assessment Task: Unit 1 Exam. Students complete an end of semester exam that tests them on the skills and knowledge learnt during Unit 1
