VCE Outcomes

Implementation Policy

Rationale

Macleod College has identified improving VCE results as a goal and priority. To do this, the College acknowledges that it must:

  1. Improve the quality of student responses in Outcomes from Units 1 – 4
  2. Provide a process for students to be able to resubmit Outcomes that do not meet the college standards
  3. Encourage and promote an overall improvement in VCE results

Scope

This policy applies to all VCE assessments and Outcomes. Where awarding bodies such as the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) have their own published procedures (see VCAA VCE Handbook,  VCAA VCE study design) these will take precedence over the College’s practice.

Implementation

Macleod College expects all students to achieve a grade of 50% or higher in all Outcomes for units 1 – 4.

If a student does not meet the required college standard in an Outcome, the following process will be undertaken:

  1. An At risk of Nnotice indicating that the student did not meet the required standard in an Outcome will be submitted by the subject teacher and sent to the student, parents/guardians and Senior School Leader via Compass.
  2. The  subject teacher will meet with the student to:
    • discuss and negotiate the type of resubmission and date that this will take place.
    • arrange a time for the student to re-sit the Outcome – this must occur within 5 working days of the meeting with the subject teacher.

NOTE: It is the responsibility of the student to ensure they meet the requirements of the resubmission.

  1. Following the resubmission of work the student will be allocated the grade of the original Outcome unless the classroom teacher and Senior School Leader have made other arrangements provided to the student in writing.
  2. If the student does not attend the resubmission, a Final Notification of N will be issued to the student and the identified VCAA appeal process will follow (see VCAA VCE Handbook).

Refer to Senior School Handbook for more information.
