Alternative Victorian Curriculum Levels

ALTERNATE VICTORIAN CURRICULUM LEVELS

These are to be used when reporting against a Learning Task and on the final Vic Level on the End of Semester Summary Reports when teacher judgement is unable to determine a level due to insufficient data.

 

DNP-LP: Low Participation – Low levels of school attendance and is not participating in an approved re-engagement program – To be determined by the Wellbeing Leader in consultation with Student Manager/Primary Leader and Principal class.

  • If you feel the need to use ‘DNP-LP’ and the student’s name does NOT already appear on the variations list, you must log a General Attendance Observation – red rating on Compass and follow up with the Student Manager/Primary Leader who can work to clarify the reasons affecting student absence.
  • If the student is usually present in the classroom but not regularly engaging in the curriculum, then you must log as a General Academic Observation – red rating on Compass and follow up with the Student Manager/Primary Leader who can work to clarify the reasons affecting student engagement.
  • Learning Task Performance grade should read: NA

DNP-EX: Exemption - Not at school but participating in re-engagement program, medical issue or school approved extended family holiday – To be determined by the Wellbeing Leader in consultation with Student Manager/Primary Leader and Principal class.

  • Learning Task Performance grade should read: NA

DNP-AB: Absent without reasonable excuse – during the reporting period the student was absent without a reasonable excuse and an approved absence has not been documented by the Wellbeing Leader or the Principal class.

  • Learning Task Performance grade should read: ABS

DNP-UN: Unapproved - Non-approved extended period of absence e.g. family holiday – To be determined by the Principal class and decision relayed to Attendance Officer.

  • Learning Task Performance grade should read: ABS

DNP-SI: Serious illness - student was seriously ill during the reporting period.

  • Learning Task Performance grade should read: NA

DNP-LE: Late enrolment - student enrolled at the school at the end of the assessment period.

  • To be used on final Vic Curriculum Level only.
  • Learning Task Performance grades should reflect assessments that student has been present for.
  • (Excluded): Present but did not submit work.
    • Learning Task Performance grade should read: NS

Classroom teachers need to be made aware of students with alternative Victorian Curriculum Levels once the decision has been made. 

This should be available via Compass chronicle or via email from the appropriate staff member.
