The K3/4 children celebrated MECS 50th birthday in true Kindergarten style: rainbows and colour! This week was extra special as we were also celebrating MECS Kindergarten’s 10th birthday and rainbow week.
Throughout the week the children prepared for their party by making party hats, decorating canvas bags, creating rainbow streamers, and painting celebration artworks. The children were excited to have Mrs Sketcher visit them to read a story on Thursday but, to be honest, they were even more excited about the birthday cake!
‘Is it real?’ they gasped.
‘Are we having real cake?’ they exclaimed.
‘Can we really eat it? Or is it just pretend?’ they asked.
After our party, we went on a Rainbow Parade through the Primary School.
We’ve been reading ‘Spot’s Birthday’ at group times and talking about the gifts that God has given us like rainbows, friends, MECS and Kinder. At the end of the story, Spot says ‘thank you’ to all his guests. This is a lovely reminder to say thanks to God for all his blessings.

K4/5 Kinder Celebration Day…
Our celebration day with Koala and Possum children started with a look at the animal farm – the children were thrilled to feed, brush and pat the gorgeous animals! Over the week the children have decorated a party hat and a tote bag as a special memory of this special occasion. Finally it was time to put our party hats on, 5 candles on the cake represented 50, and Mrs Sketcher came to sing Happy Birthday to MECS with us. Afterwards we all enjoyed eating cake, yum.
We had many discussions about the number 50, and also about the number 10, as our kinder celebrates 10 years of operation this year!
Happy Birthday MECS!
