We were thrilled with our Student Celebration Day last Friday. It was a day full of colour, music and fun across the whole school. Thanks for those families who were able to join us for our whole school assembly which was a real highlight. The students and staff really got behind the day with great costumes and activities happening all day. At the centre of our celebrations was a spirit of thanksgiving for God’s faithfulness and goodness over so many years. Our next Anniversary event coincides with Open Day on Saturday 6 May when all past staff and students are welcome to come back to MECS and join in the festivities.
This week, Karissa Esselbrugge (Assistant Principal Secondary), Ric Thorpe (Director of Ranges TEC) and I will be in Sydney attending CEN’s Annual Conference for Principals and Senior Executives. This will be followed by CEN’s AGM Conference this coming weekend where we will be joined by Board Chair, Sue Goudswaard and Board member, Tim Van der Veen. It is always a great opportunity to meet with other Christian leaders from around Australia who are all committed to seeing Christian schools grow and flourish in this country.
During next week there are a number of opportunities for you to meet with teachers during our first round of interviews. Teachers and other educational support staff are keen to meet with you either in person or on-line, via Teams, to discuss the learning progress and goals of each student. We want these to be positive conversations, so please come ready with your ideas and strategies about how your child could be better supported or extended in each class.
Please note that all interviews on Tuesday are on-site; Primary in classrooms and Secondary in the Gym. On Wednesday, interviews are online via MS Teams.
We are aware that when booking Compass, it provides the option to choose location, regardless of what you have selected, the interviews will be conducted as per the above arrangements.
As this will be the last newsletter for this term, may you find time as a family for rest and recreation during the upcoming holidays. As this break incorporates the Easter season, may it also be a time of reflection and celebration as you ponder anew the incredible act of redemption that Christ offers each one of us through His death and resurrection. May that truth and hope be known and embraced by each one of us! We look forward to seeing all our students back on Thursday 27 April.
