Principal's Report

by David Lord

Thank You

I would like to thank the whole Staughton Family for your care and connection with each other this term. I would like to particularly congratulate students who have continued to persevere in completing their learning interactions.  The introduction of Google Meet at Years 7-10 has really helped to boost engagement and will continue to be used regularly in Term 4. At the start of the next term we are focussing strongly on students starting to get ready to come back to school. This begins with senior students and hopefully also includes years 7-10 at a later date. I have included the Department Of Education Term 4 Schedule again below. As we get ready to return we are focusing on students completing their learning interactions in the week that they are set. This will help make sure students are up to date with their learning when they return on site. It will also help them return to the routines they will need when they return.

Term 4 Schedule

5 – 9 October (first week of Term 4)

Remote and flexible learning will continue for all students, except in specialist schools in rural and regional Victoria.

VCE and VCAL students can only attend on-site for essential assessments during this week, including the General Achievement Test (GAT) on Wednesday 7 October.On-site supervision for children of permitted workers and vulnerable students will continue to be provided consistent with existing guidelines.

From 12 October

Year 11 and 12 students will now attend on-site schooling full time, and Year 10 students enrolled in a VCE or VCAL program will attend on-site for these classes.

Remote and flexible learning will continue for all students in Grade 3 to Year 10, other than for children of permitted workers and vulnerable students.

Date subject to health advice

All students from Grade 3 to Year 10 in metropolitan Melbourne will continue with remote and flexible learning. A date for the return of these year levels to face-to-face learning will be subject to further health advice.

Child Safe

In response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, all schools are required to implement minimum Child Safety Standards. At Staughton College, we hold the care, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of our school. We have fully implemented all of the standards, including a Child Safe Policy, and Code of Conduct. Both of these documents can be found on our website. I will be regularly reminding our school community of these policies as part of our ongoing commitment to the safety and wellbeing of the children in our care.

DAVID LORD

Principal

We, at Staughton College, would like to show our respect and acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is situated, of elders past and present. We extend a warm welcome to everyone who visits our school.
